At around 9:15 p.m. EDT, DEEP Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police responded to a boat crash in Old Saybrook, 30 miles east of New Haven, Connecticut, Will Healey, director of communications for the  Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection, told USA TODAY in an email. Others on board rescued

Six of the nine onboard were rescued and taken to the hospital, and one person is in critical condition, said Healey.
